Farmington Man Faces Multiple Sex Crime Charges In Separate San Juan County Cases

A Farmington man faces multiple felony sex crime charges in separate San Juan County cases involving two reported victims, including one who was a juvenile at the time of the alleged incident, according to criminal complaints and arrest warrant affidavits filed in magistrate court.

Devon Marcus Sanchez, 21, of Farmington, is charged in cases filed in Farmington and Aztec magistrate courts, according to court records reviewed by San Juan Pulse.

All charges are allegations based on court records, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

According to court records reviewed by San Juan Pulse, the allegations stem from a 2023 juvenile case revived by DNA evidence in 2026, alongside a separate incident where investigators write that Sanchez described an adult woman’s allegations as “100% true.”

JUVENILE CASE DETAILED IN FARMINGTON COURT RECORDS

According to a criminal complaint filed in Farmington Magistrate Court, Sanchez is charged with one count of criminal sexual penetration in the second degree involving a child between the ages of 13 and 18. Court records allege the incident occurred March 19, 2023.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, investigators reviewed information from a 2023 report after being assigned to the case in May 2026. The affidavit alleges the reported victim was 16 years old at the time of the alleged incident.

The affidavit states investigators reviewed evidence collected during the original investigation, including laboratory testing that allegedly identified male DNA from evidence submitted in the case. According to court records, investigators later sought additional DNA evidence as part of the investigation.

According to the affidavit, investigators interviewed Sanchez after advising him of his Miranda rights. The affidavit states investigators wrote that Sanchez made statements about sexual contact with the reported victim. The affidavit also states investigators interpreted some of Sanchez’s statements as acknowledging the reported victim may not have consented.

ADULT WOMAN’S ALLEGATIONS DETAILED IN AZTEC COURT RECORDS

In a separate case filed in Aztec Magistrate Court, Sanchez is charged with one count of criminal sexual penetration in the third degree, according to a criminal complaint.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit in that case, investigators alleged an adult woman reported waking to alleged sexual contact while she was unable to consent after consuming alcohol.

The affidavit states investigators interviewed additional witnesses and later questioned Sanchez regarding the allegations. According to the affidavit, Sanchez denied some aspects of the allegations, but investigators wrote that he later described the woman’s allegations as “100% true.”
