Two Shiprock women have been charged in connection with an alleged aggravated burglary at a Farmington-area residence, according to criminal complaints and statements of probable cause filed in Aztec Magistrate Court.
Danielle Tedra Hunt, 36, and Katrina R. James, 44, are accused in connection with an incident reported at a residence on County Road 5575. All charges are allegations based on court records, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
According to the statements of probable cause, San Juan County Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 8 p.m. to a reported breaking-and-entering call after a woman alleged three females entered her home and threatened her.
According to investigators, the reporting party told deputies she had never met the women before and alleged they repeatedly ordered her to leave the residence while threatening to harm her. The woman told deputies one of the females allegedly displayed what the reporting party described as a black Glock-style handgun while threatening to harm her.
According to court records, the reporting party told deputies she retrieved a kitchen knife because she feared for her safety. Deputies reported removing the knife after arriving because she said she had been holding it for protection.
Investigators alleged Hunt remained inside and barricaded herself inside the residence. Deputies later entered the residence after receiving permission from the homeowner and detained Hunt after repeated announcements requesting that she come outside, according to the probable cause statement.
According to the affidavit, Katrina James was stopped earlier while driving a black Chevrolet Impala. Deputies later located James walking nearby and interviewed her, according to the affidavit.
Court records state Hunt told investigators she went to the residence because her nephew’s uncle wanted someone to check on the property and alleged the homeowner had refused to leave. Hunt denied attempting to force the woman from the residence and denied any firearm had been involved, according to investigators.
According to investigators, James stated she had heard about an ongoing dispute involving the residence and agreed to drive others there. Court records state James denied threatening the homeowner with a firearm and denied knowing why the homeowner had armed herself with a knife. James also told deputies she did not know the identity of another woman involved, identified in the affidavit only by initials and a nickname.
According to the affidavit, investigators later spoke by telephone with a man identified as Johnson Harden, who allegedly acknowledged asking the women to go to the residence. Investigators wrote Harden allegedly said he wanted the women to make the homeowner uncomfortable so she would leave. According to the affidavit, Harden denied directing anyone to force the homeowner from the residence but allegedly acknowledged wanting the women to intimidate the homeowner, investigators wrote.
Investigators alleged the evidence supported charges accusing the women of entering the residence intending to force the homeowner to leave while threatening her with what the reporting party described as a firearm. Those allegations form the basis of the criminal complaints.

Case Status
Both criminal complaints were filed in Aztec Magistrate Court. Court records reviewed by San Juan Pulse did not indicate whether either defendant had retained legal counsel at the time of publication. The defendants could not immediately be reached for comment.
