Bloomfield Man Charged With Child Sexual Contact Offenses After April Investigation

BLOOMFIELD — A Bloomfield man has been charged with multiple child sexual contact offenses involving allegations concerning a child under 13 following alleged incidents reported in April, according to an arrest warrant filed in San Juan County Magistrate Court.

Christoval Jaramillo, 78, faces one second-degree felony count of criminal sexual contact of a minor and two third-degree felony counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor, according to court records.

All charges are allegations based on court records, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

According to the arrest affidavit, Bloomfield police were dispatched April 14 after a woman reported allegations involving her 11-year-old daughter.

The affidavit states the child later participated in a forensic interview at Child Haven, where investigators alleged she described multiple interactions involving inappropriate touching inside the residence.

According to court records, investigators alleged the child told them Jaramillo visited the residence multiple times that day and allegedly touched her over and under her clothing during separate encounters.

Investigators alleged Ring camera footage showed Jaramillo’s vehicle arriving at the residence multiple times on April 14, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, investigators alleged Jaramillo told them he initially went to the residence to deliver egg cartons and later returned after realizing additional cartons remained in his vehicle.

Court records state investigators later interviewed Jaramillo on April 24 after arranging for him to come to the Bloomfield Police Department.
