A Farmington woman has been charged with intimidation of a witness after a criminal complaint was filed and an arrest warrant issued, according to court records.
Angela Lucero, 47, is accused of offering money and providing items to victims while communicating through intermediaries and jail calls, actions investigators allege were intended to influence testimony connected to a case at 1124 Smith Lane. Court records identify Lucero as the mother of a primary suspect in the underlying robbery investigation.
According to an affidavit for arrest warrant filed in San Juan County Magistrate Court, the investigation stems from a January 17, 2026 armed robbery in which multiple suspects allegedly entered a residence with pistols, assaulted occupants, and stole items. Victims were identified in court records as Tyler Dougherty, Kayla Write (spelled “Write” in court records), and Reanna Griffith.
Investigators allege Lucero engaged in a pattern of contact with victims following the incident, including offering approximately $1,000 in exchange for non-cooperation and providing money, clothing, and other assistance.
According to the affidavit, jail records and surveillance showed Lucero deposited money into accounts for Dougherty and Write at the San Juan County Detention Center and dropped off clothing items referred to as “whites.” Receipts documented deposits of $66 and $61 made within minutes of each other on April 6, 2026.
Investigators allege recorded jail phone calls between the primary suspect and Lucero, along with conversations involving third parties, reflected coordination aimed at influencing witness testimony. In some calls cited in the report, individuals discussed advising witnesses to “plead the fifth” or say they did not remember events when appearing in court.
Witness interviews included in the report indicate one individual stated no direct bribe was accepted but described hearing warnings from others about possible consequences of cooperating. Another witness told investigators Lucero initially offered money to “not say anything,” though later described the contact as possibly motivated by concern.
The affidavit further alleges Lucero used an intermediary referred to as “Candy” to communicate offers and maintain indirect contact with victims.
Based on the totality of the investigation, police stated there is probable cause to believe Lucero knowingly engaged in conduct intended to intimidate, influence, or impede victims or witnesses in a criminal proceeding.
