A Farmington man has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after an incident in which police allege he threatened individuals with a knife at a residence on Hallett Circle, according to a criminal complaint filed in San Juan County Magistrate Court.
Tito Ben Roberson, 34, of Farmington, is named as the defendant in the case.
All charges are allegations based on court records, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
According to a statement of probable cause, Farmington police were dispatched April 28, 2026, to the 900 block of Hallett Circle following a report of an armed individual allegedly threatening residents. A reporting party told officers that Roberson was outside yelling and, after being told to leave, allegedly produced a knife and made threatening statements.
Court records state that a second individual reported that Roberson allegedly approached him with a knife, closed distance between them, and made statements including “what are you gonna do?” while swinging the knife.
According to the affidavit, Roberson later left the area and was seen walking toward Mojave Avenue. Officers later located him near World Harvest Church, where police reported a knife matching witness descriptions was found on his person.
Police allege Roberson did not respond when officers attempted to identify him and was informed he could face additional charges for concealing his identity. During the arrest, officers reported observing a cut on his hand and called medics to evaluate him.
According to the report, officers also located clothing items behind a nearby container, including a black jersey and a gray jacket with stains that officers noted appeared to be blood, though this was not confirmed in court records. A red plastic knife handle was also collected as evidence.
Witness video footage reviewed by police reportedly showed Roberson, whom officers said appeared agitated and was seen moving his arm in a swinging motion before walking away.
Police further allege that during transport and medical evaluation, Roberson displayed behavior officers described as resisting, including refusing to walk and requiring assistance to be moved.
