A man was arrested after police alleged strangulation and forced sexual intercourse during a domestic disturbance in Bloomfield, according to a statement of probable cause. The incident was reported March 13, 2026, and the document was filed March 16, 2026, in Aztec Magistrate Court.
Bloomfield police were dispatched after a neighbor reported hearing a man and woman fighting inside a shed behind a residence on West Main Street in Bloomfield.
Neighbor Reported Fight in Backyard Shed
According to the statement of probable cause, Bloomfield Police Officer Justin Lynch was dispatched at about 9:38 p.m. March 13 to a residence after a neighbor reported a domestic disturbance in progress.
The document states the neighbor reported hearing a man and woman inside a backyard shed and said the argument sounded active. When the officer approached, he reported hearing a man yelling at a woman, the woman yelling back, sounds he believed were gagging or choking, and what sounded like slapping or hitting.
Officer Entered Shed and Pursued Suspect
The officer reported finding the shed door unlocked and opening it after announcing himself. According to the document, a woman was on a mattress inside and pointed to a man standing over her while asking the officer to make him stop.
The statement says the man moved behind the shed door, then ran from the shed and fled eastbound on Main Street after the officer tried to detain him. The officer pursued him on foot and deployed a Taser, but the Taser missed, according to the report.
Another officer joined the search, but police temporarily lost sight of the suspect, the document states.
Woman Reported Assault and Threats
After returning to the shed, the officer spoke with the woman, who said the defendant forced her to have sex after she told him to stop, according to the statement of probable cause. The document states she told police she kicked him off after several minutes.
The officer reported observing bruising and swelling around her eyes, bruising on her arms and legs, and discoloration near the base of her neck. The report states the injuries were photographed.
According to the document, the woman also told police the defendant said he would kill her during the attack. The statement says she declined ambulance transport, a hospital ride and a ride to a domestic violence shelter.
Police Located Defendant Back at Shed
The statement says neighbors later called dispatch again to report a man matching the suspect’s description walking nearby without a shirt, shorts and shoes. The officer then returned to the shed, heard a man talking inside, opened the door and found Marlon Chamorro hiding behind it, according to the document.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the San Juan County Adult Detention Center. During transport, the report states he vomited, argued, yelled and said he was under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamine.
The document also states a records check showed two active warrants out of Colorado and an active protection order issued in Colorado protecting the woman and her children.
