Denny’s Parking Lot Dispute Leads to Robbery, Battery Charges in Farmington Case

A Farmington man has been charged with robbery and battery against a household member following a dispute outside a restaurant in Farmington, according to a statement of probable cause filed in court records. The incident was reported March 7, 2026, at a Denny’s restaurant in the city.

Police responded to a reported disturbance involving two people arguing in the middle of the street near the restaurant, according to the document.

Initial disturbance reported

According to the statement of probable cause, officers were dispatched around 2:22 a.m. to a Denny’s restaurant after reports of a male and female physically fighting in the roadway. Officers arrived and located the individuals near a silver Chevrolet Cobalt.

One officer reported that the female appeared visually distressed and had difficulty catching her breath. She identified the male as Elvis Tyler and told officers the two had been drinking earlier that night, the document states.

Dispute inside restaurant

The woman told officers the pair entered the restaurant where an argument began at a table. According to the document, she said Tyler grabbed her shirt, shook her, and took money from her pocket.

The officer reported observing a red mark on the woman’s chest that appeared consistent with being shaken. She also told officers Tyler attempted to use her phone and poured water onto the table before grabbing a packet of honey and pouring it onto the surface, according to the report.

Money dispute and confrontation outside

The woman told officers Tyler took $25 from her front pocket and left the restaurant. She followed him into the parking lot asking for the money back, according to the statement.

According to the document, the pair continued walking and arguing across the street near the restaurant. The woman told officers Tyler eventually returned the money when he saw officers approaching.

Officer response

Officers reported that witnesses inside the restaurant saw Tyler grab the woman’s shirt and shake her during the incident. Police then placed Tyler under arrest.

Officers transported him to the San Juan County Adult Detention Center, according to the report.
