Texas Roadhouse Parking Lot Fight Leads to Aggravated DWI Charge in Farmington

A Farmington woman has been charged with aggravated DWI, resisting arrest, and battery upon a peace officer following a reported altercation and arrest at Texas Roadhouse, 4601 E. Main Street near Animas Valley Mall, according to a statement of probable cause. The incident occurred March 8, 2026.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 7:19 p.m. to the parking lot regarding a male and female involved in a physical altercation.

Parking Lot Investigation

According to the report, officers located a blue Chevrolet vehicle and made contact with Katelyn Ballard, who was identified as the driver. A bystander provided officers with a wallet believed to belong to a male involved in the incident, who had left the immediate area.

Officers reported observing signs of intoxication, including bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. An open container of alcohol was located in the vehicle’s center console, according to the report.

According to the report, officers also reviewed video footage showing a male, later identified as Grey Moon, striking Ballard during the altercation prior to police arrival.

Attempted Detention and Arrest

Police stated that the defendant attempted to start or operate the vehicle and was ordered to stop. According to the report, she did not comply with commands, leading to a physical struggle in which she was removed from the vehicle and placed on the ground before being handcuffed.

During the encounter, officers stated the defendant continued resisting commands and had to be assisted into a patrol vehicle.

Hospital Incident and Alleged Bite

According to the report, the defendant was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center for evaluation, where officers stated she continued resisting staff and officers.

According to the report, while at the hospital, an officer reported that the defendant bit his forearm while he was attempting to restrain her. The report describes a red, bruised area on the officer’s arm consistent with a bite mark.

Testing Refusal and Booking

According to the report, the defendant refused to submit to chemical testing after being advised under the New Mexico Implied Consent Act. The refusal was documented as part of the DWI investigation.

She was later transported to the San Juan County Adult Detention Center for booking.
