Two Felony Counts Filed in La Plata Child Contact Case

Joseph Hadden is facing two second-degree felony charges in a case involving alleged unlawful contact with a minor, according to court records filed in Aztec Magistrate Court.

An affidavit for arrest warrant alleges two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor under New Mexico law. The charges stem from a forensic interview conducted earlier this year, according to the filing.

Court records state the allegations involve incidents that allegedly occurred several years ago when the child was under 13. The affidavit was submitted by a detective with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

Criminal sexual contact of a minor in the second degree is a felony offense under NMSA 1978, § 30-9-13(B)(1). The case will proceed through the court system.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. A criminal charge is an allegation, and the defendant is entitled to due process.
