Cousin allegedly struck by vehicle in Gallup

GALLUP, N.M. — Court records allege a Gallup woman struck a family member with a vehicle and left the scene, leading investigators to seek an arrest warrant on felony and misdemeanor charges.

The allegations are outlined in a sworn affidavit for arrest warrant filed Jan. 17, 2026, in McKinley County Magistrate Court.

Incident reported in Gallup

According to the affidavit, Gallup Police responded on Jan. 17, 2026, to an apartment complex on Dani Drive after a report that a woman had been run over by her cousin several hours earlier.

Officers met with the reported victim, who told police she woke up in pain and did not remember what had happened. A relative later told officers the victim had been struck by a vehicle driven by her cousin.

Alleged vehicle strike described

Court records state a witness reported seeing the suspect enter a blue Nissan SUV and strike the victim with the vehicle. The affidavit alleges the vehicle reversed and drove over the victim a second time before leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

The incident reportedly occurred near an apartment complex along East Historic Highway 66.

Witness statements and evidence

A neighbor told police the victim appeared injured, with blood visible and torn clothing. Officers later located and collected clothing believed to have been worn during the incident.
