2013 Chevy 1500 Reported Stolen in Taos County Case

A stolen vehicle case involving a 2013 Chevrolet 1500 has been filed in Taos County Magistrate Court following a January investigation by the Taos County Sheriff’s Office, according to a statement of probable cause.

The filing alleges the vehicle was taken from a friend’s residence in Tres Piedras, Taos County, and later reported stolen to law enforcement.

What Court Records Allege

Report of Stolen Pickup

According to a statement of probable cause signed by Deputy Andrew Gutierrez of the Taos County Sheriff’s Office, the case stems from an incident reported Jan. 30, 2026. The document states that at approximately 8:22 a.m., Deputy Gutierrez was notified by dispatch about a stolen vehicle at a location identified in court records as Calle Del Perro Loco in Tres Piedras.

The statement identifies the vehicle as a black 2013 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck.

Owner’s Statement to Law Enforcement

According to the statement of probable cause, the reporting party, identified in court records as Derek Silas Jackson, advised deputies that he left town on Sept. 24, 2025, and stored the pickup at a friend’s house on Calle Del Perro Loco. The document states the truck contained personal belongings and documentation.

The filing alleges the vehicle was possibly taken on or about Jan. 15, 2026. Court records state that Jackson later came to the Taos County Sheriff’s Office and provided documentation to prove ownership of the vehicle.

Alleged Forged Documents

According to the filing, Jackson advised deputies that he did not authorize anyone to drive or possess the vehicle. The statement of probable cause further alleges that Miramontes forged Jackson’s signature on several documents in an effort to transfer ownership of the vehicle to himself. The only charge listed in the filing is stolen vehicle.
