FARMINGTON, N.M. — A Farmington man was booked into the San Juan County Adult Detention Center on Jan. 26, 2026, in connection with a series of burglary, vehicle theft, and financial crime cases investigated by the Farmington Police Department, according to jail and court records.

Fidel Rayceme Curtis, 26, is facing numerous felony charges stemming from incidents investigators allege occurred over several days in late December 2025.

Jail records show Curtis was booked at approximately 10:37 a.m. after an arrest warrant consolidated multiple police cases into a single proceeding, according to court records.

All allegations described below are drawn from court filings and law enforcement statements. No conviction has been entered. Curtis is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

What court records allege

Alleged series of burglaries and thefts

According to court records, investigators linked Curtis to incidents reported between Dec. 21 and Dec. 26, 2025, involving alleged vehicle burglaries, a non-residential burglary, theft of wallets and financial cards, unauthorized transactions, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and criminal damage to property.

Police documentation indicates initially separate reports were connected through surveillance footage, recovered property, witness statements, and information developed during the investigation.

One portion of the investigation began after a wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle parked near a business on Butler Avenue. The theft was later discovered after unauthorized transactions appeared on accounts associated with the stolen cards, according to court filings.

Court records state attempted and successful purchases were later identified at multiple Farmington businesses. Investigators reported surveillance footage showed an individual using the cards and that the footage was used as part of the identification process.

Non-residential burglary allegation

Court filings also include a non-residential burglary allegation involving the Animas Valley Mall area in Farmington. Investigators allege a business was entered without authorization and property was taken.

Records further allege property damage occurred during the incident and that investigators later recovered information they believed helped link the burglary to other reports under investigation.

Vehicle theft allegation and recovery

The filings allege Curtis unlawfully took a 2019 Lexus after locating the vehicle unlocked with the keys inside. The vehicle was later recovered after being damaged, according to court records.

Investigators documented items recovered in connection with the vehicle recovery that they believed were tied to other reported thefts and burglaries.

Charges listed in court records

In a criminal complaint filed in San Juan County court, prosecutors list multiple counts, including larceny over $2,500, burglary of a vehicle (multiple counts), non-residential burglary, unauthorized withdrawal, theft, or use of the card of another (multiple counts), theft of a credit card (multiple counts), criminal damage to property over $1,000, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and driving while license revoked (DWI-related).

Court records show the case was filed in the Eleventh Judicial District Court in San Juan County on Feb. 4, 2026, and lists multiple alleged incidents dated between Dec. 21 and Dec. 26, 2025.

Court status

Court records indicate a Public Safety Assessment was completed the day of Curtis’s booking. The assessment is used by the court to assist with pretrial decisions and does not determine guilt or innocence.

The case remains pending. Court proceedings, including any hearings, will determine the outcome of the allegations.

Presumption of innocence:
All charges are allegations only. Fidel Rayceme Curtis is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
